My late Aunt Phyllis had one ... I’ve sailed boats that handled better.

When I was in the Navy those were what they used to drive flag officers around in. Seriously, your reward for making admiral was to be driven around in a white Aries K.

This car and then the mini van saved Chrysler , that then gave us the Viper and hell cat so it’t not 100% terrible, just 95% terrible.

They looked appropriately institutional though - vinyl seats?

I assume. I tried to avoid getting too close to those things or their occupants. It was bad enough being required to salute the stupid car.

Of course, they just do seem like the automotive equivalent of linoleum floors and florescent tube lighting. If Chrysler could have used wire mesh glass in the windows, they might well have.

Early model, notice it doesn’t have rear window winders.
It seems hateful now, but this was completely competent in 1981 - shows how far we’ve come (if one wanted a small Mopar, an Omnirizon might have been a more fun choice).

Sold for 5 grand earlier this year after the winner didn't follow through and it hasn't aged any better since then.

The commander of the AF base where I work has a blue Malibu with white roof for a staff car. The vice commander has an Elantra but without a “cool” paint job.

When me and fiancee mr in our early 20s went to visit my relatives in Arizona in the early 90s had one of these as a rental, and although a pos overall, it safely moved us around the state for Grand Canyon ,Sedona Phoenix etc.. and thousands of feet elevation changes. No fun doing twisties, just transportation. Nothing wrong with that

My parents bought an 82 Aries wagon new, and I bought it from them when I was 19. It was “Morocco Red”. In other words, it was the color of a brick, looked like a brick and handled like a brick. It didn’t automatically shut of the air conditioner under throttle, so I had to do it manually on a highway onramp just to have a chance of getting close to traffic speed. If the onramp was uphill, forget it.
On the other hand, it was surprisingly durable. I got 117K miles out of it, some of which was on rough dirt roads. It survived a trip over Cottonwood Pass in Colorado. When I got to the pass, I was surrounded by people with Jeeps, Broncos and Blazers wondering who that idiot was with the station wagon who drove 20 miles on dirt roads to a high pass.

Every time I see an Aries I’m reminded of this.

As boring and plain as it may be, that little car and the S-body minivan that followed saved Chrysler’s ass.
If I didn’t already have 3 vehicles, I would put a bid in on it. They’re comfy, fuel efficient, and damn reliable when taken care of.
